Betrayal at the Neibolt House: The Evil of Pennywise
This was my first project on Avalon Hill. This was our first licensed expansion since the 3rd edition released, and we needed it to fit in with the previous 2. We continued the book cover design for the box so that they could sit nicely together on shelf. This item also presented some unique challenges in art direction- due to licensing terms, we could only reference characters shown in the sequel. We referenced scenes and locations from the second movie for tile and token artwork.

All expansions shown side by side in our SG3 meeting, where we share progress with the rest of the team. SG4 is typically when artwork is final, so this version of the box art is slightly outdated. Some of the framing elements and typography changed.
Final artwork for tokens and tiles. For the enemy tokens, we made sure to push the colors so that they could be quickly read as different characters despite their small size. The tiles are based on locations shown in the sequel.
Card back designed for new expansion specific encounters
This inner box tray was removed due to cost reductions. I wanted to include some more details from Derry that you could uncover by removing the figures and tokens.
Early rough concept pitched to the licensor
Art direction process for Henry Bowers character piece. We needed to get further away from the actor's likeness- putting the character's face in shadow and bringing the weapon to the front was a great solve and made him even more sinister.
